A variety of factors impact hourly photovoltaic (PV) generation output. Engineering models like PV Watts approximate solar array output based on the orientation and angle of the array, irradiation, temperature and wind speed. Direct metering of PV generates provides measured data that reflect these same factors. In this brown bag, we will explore the direct influences of each factor and the interactions among these factors. The result is an hourly model that can be used to explain historical variations in hourly generation output and to forecast hourly profile scenarios based on an hourly weather scenario.
